Price Lock Agreement Interface

Context & Problem

SMB sales reps needed a way to offer negotiated, time-limited pricing on specific parts and configurations to business customers — locking in a price and quantity for a set period, similar to a contract. LenovoPRO (Lenovo's SMB storefront) had no mechanism for this; every customer saw the same tiered pricing.

Role & Scope

As Senior Product Owner, I drove requirements for the tele-side agreement creation flow, the pricing display logic, and the approval workflow within this cart and checkout initiative.

Requirements Ownership

I owned agreement creation at cart page, covering how a rep flags line items in a cart, sets a price and quantity limit per part, and submits for approval — with agreements expiring after a configurable period (default 60 days, capped at 365). For pricing display, an approved agreement's price surfaces wherever the SKU appears (search, product listing, PDP, cart) under a "My Price" label, alongside remaining quantity and expiration date, correctly reverting to standard pricing once quantity is exhausted or the agreement expires. For the approval workflow, an approver role reviews and approves or rejects an entire agreement (not line-by-line), with a full audit history of who requested and approved what.

Strategy & Prioritization

The lifecycle mapped to a state machine — Pending, Approved, Rejected, Expired, Cancelled — with the ability to copy an existing agreement to speed up repeat deals. Approved agreements are locked from further edits; any change requires a brand-new submission, keeping the pricing audit trail clean rather than allowing silent edits to live customer pricing.

Execution

Delivered requirements feeding a full-stack build: backend toggles at the customer-group level, tele-facing cart and approval UI, and customer-facing display logic at cart and checkout, including edge cases like out-of-stock SKUs and zero-remaining-quantity agreements.

Outcomes

Projected business value and impact:

  • $9M in business value for 6 months of use
  • Scaling to $13M at 9 months of use
  • Full state-machine lifecycle management for agreements (Pending, Approved, Rejected, Expired, Cancelled)
  • Real-time pricing display across all customer touchpoints (search, PDP, cart, checkout)
  • Complete audit trail for compliance and agreement tracking
  • Agreement replication for streamlined repeat deals
